Are there going to be more categories for vendors and listings?
Yes. The categories shown in the search filters are only the ones that are being used, but there are plenty more available for vendors do choose from. As we continue to grow, you'll start to see more categories pop up in the search.
What kind of news can be submitted to the News page?
Any vendor can submit news for a variety of reasons, pending approval, but you must have an account with a vendor profile to do so. Here are some examples of what we would love to see:
- Employee Hired
- Employee Promotion
- Employee of the Month
- New Business Opening
- New Feature Release
- New Partner or Investor
- New Product Launch
- New Vendor Created/Joined
- Rebranding
- Sale/Promotion
- Upcoming Event
- Vendor Review/Critique
Will there be a mobile app for this site?
Currently there is only one person working on this site and doing everything out of his pocket. Depending on how well the site does and if we can receive some funding in the future, a mobile app will certainly be considered.
For Members
How do I see listings for my favorite vendors?
If you are logged in, you can follow vendors by clicking on the follow button on their vendor page or in search results. Once you follow your first vendor, a "Feed" link will appear in the menu under your account name. From there you can see all of their listings and get notified via email when new listings appear.
What are credits for, and how do I earn/use them?
Credits are a type of virtual currency. You can earn credits in the following ways:
- 25
- Logging in daily - 25 - Help Me Find It Volunteers can earn each time they help someone find something
- 25 - Replying to forum topics
- 100 - Posting new forum topics
- 200 - Reviewing listings
- 200 - Contacting new vendors for the first time using the vendor contact form
- 1,000 - Publishing a new vendor profile
* Note that credits are deducted when forum posts are removed, reviews are taken down, or when a vendor profile status is changed to "draft." Additionally, if a user is found to be abusing the system just to get credits, they will be banned from the site.
Is there a limit to how many we can earn?
Not at this time, but if people get out of control with them, we might end up putting a cap on them.
What can I get with the credits I earn?
Unfortunately, this is a brand new system that we're implementing, so you cannot use them in any way yet. However, we wanted to give you the opportunity to start earning them now while we put our virtual store together. Here is what we are planning to add to our store.
- Users will be able to buy real coupons that are redeemable by participating vendors; in other words, use credits like real cash
- Users will be able to purchase special features on the website that other users will not have access to
- Vendors will be able to use them to make listings featured at the top of search results
- Vendors will be able to buy extra online tools to help with their business
- Other ideas are welcome; please submit them in our forum
For Vendors
How do I make a vendor profile?
Once you create an account, go to your settings which are located in the menu under your username. From your settings page, you'll see a "Create New Vendor" link at the top underneath the current profile dropdown.
Who is allowed to make a vendor profile?
The purpose of this website is to support locally owned Reedsburg businesses and organizations, as well as freelancers and makers that work or reside in Reedsburg. Therefore, if that applies to you, then we encourage you to create a vendor profile. You are also welcome if you are slightly outside of Reedsburg (within a 10-mile radius — see map below).
Can I list personal items on this site?
No. This website is for legitimate businesses, organizations, freelancers and makers that are trying to get themselves out there; it is not a buy/sale/trade site. We recommend checking out Facebook Marketplace or eBay.
What kinds of products are allowed to be listed?
Only new products can be listed, with the exception of used vehicles from a dealership and real estate. Garage sale and estate sale items cannot be posted.
What kinds of events are allowed to be added?
Any event that is in Reedsburg and supports our vendors. Events outside of Reedsburg are not allowed, even if they are within 10 miles. Clearance sales and estate sales that are organized by local businesses are allowed, but garage sales are not.
Am I allowed to post listings that are not for sale?
Yes, but only if you are able and wiling to reproduce them. For example, if you are a maker and want to show off a piece you're proud of, you can do so and mark it as "Display Only," but people should be able to still commission you to make one like it for them.
What if I have a lot of listings? Is there an easier way to import them?
Yes. We can upload them in bulk for you from a spreadsheet. Here are the steps to take:
- Create your first listing so we have a basis for what you are wanting to add
- Make a request for a bulk listing import from our contact form
- We will export your listings into a spreadsheet in CSV format and send it to you
- Fill out the spreadsheet with your new listings and send it back
- We'll import it to make sure everything goes smoothly and let you know when we're done
Just note that the spreadsheet can't include images, so you'll have to add them after your listings are uploaded.
Is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) included?
Yes. This website has been submitted to Google and some other popular search engines, and will continue to be updated regularly. The site is designed to help vendors get noticed. Please give it some time before your profile shows up in their search results.
How do I get a verified checkmark next to my name?
To get verified, you need to submit a request that shows you are a legitimate business, organization, or freelancer within a 10-mile radius of Reedsburg, WI.
